Yesterday, after i left from a bar with my girlfriend who also had birthday, i went to the buss stop right across the street and waited for my buss so as i could go to my beloved bed and have a normal... yet not... sleep. Anyway, at the time i was waiting, bursts of cars where passing as the light became green, silence for a moment, and then again.
There where some advertisment on my right hand, if i remember correct, it was about some sunglasses, so i was examining the design and font used, which was one sript like font, very nice, and also the female body that appeared in the ad. After a few minutes a van came and parked, well, this kinda reminded me the economic movement of assasins, by the time i understood what happened, the van had parked, the ad post oppened and the add changed to some clothing brand, this time featuring a man. the font on that one was a slab serif but the one with the hairline slabs instead of the fat ones, 3 guys came down and their movements where so acurate and stable, they did the job of removing the ads from both the sides in less than 1 minute and did go away before the light turned green for the other cars to pass...
Whats the point in all that... well, the point is that we should try to be fast at our work, but fast enough so as no quality is ruined, the advertisment companies print milions of copies for display and we are the ones designing them. Our minds must be fast and correct in the thinking, this is something you get from extended work on one subject, but you must try and succeed in it as we are still young and creative, i am glad that i recently became 19 years old and i have already built something with my own hands and i am also glad for people that are in my age and have the same passion for graphic design.

...Design... it's what we should aim for, not creating something just because we saw it... this is something that tends to happen in our days where there is a major lack of parthenogenesis or even correct flow of creativity.
Practice of skills like drawing is important for a graphic designer if he wants to be valued. If a designer can't create something from scratch, on a piece of paper, he will always be the one that uses his computer just to use his software and JUST to create, something... nice... but not original and definitely not actually his. You can choose whether to be a designer that gets used by his computer or a designer that uses his computer to create something that fills him and makes him glad when finished.

Influence is something that comes from correct usage of tools provided by technology. Traditional pencil and paper work shouldn't  be forgotten though.
If you want something to be right, you have to know its beginning, its basis, the foundation of it, especially if it is something you create. You must know what you create and you must know everything about it.
If all this is followed, the final result will be, other designers trying to do what you do or worse using or imitating your work, but this is something you have to cope with.

For example i wouldn't have started reading and studying typography if it wasn't for Ryan Ford. I am really glad that someone like him exists in DA

Well, found a new book, about typography, well, its a good start... it was a reprint in greek from Dart Books Fundamentals of Typography , by Gavin Ambrose & Paul Harris, it was relesed in Greece recently and i really recomend this book for someone that starts typography and font design in general, contains full analysis of the anatomy allong with historical anadromy of the designers of some basic fontfaces.
